About Crocodile
The legacy of Crocodile, which spans
just over half a century, is nothing short of phenomenal.
Created in the late 1940s, Crocodile was the brainchild of the
young and ambitious entrepreneur Dato' Dr. Tan Hian Tsin. The
young Tan envisioned the development of a homegrown braned
product which would take the world by storm. At that time the
burgeoning market for men's shirts in Asia bristled with
international names, mainly of western origin. Undaunted, the
youthful Tan set up his flagship manufacturing plant for Men's
shirts in Singapore.
The 'Crocodile' brand and its
quality, resonably priced products were quickly snapped up by
the enthusiastic market which had been facing a dearth of
affordable quality garments. Spurred by his success Tan began to
explore and expand to new areas, venturing to other facets of
men's wear. This ranged from undergarments, socks, slacks,
sports shirts to even handkerchiefs. The successful streak was
accentuated further with the entry of Crocodile into the market
of accessories. It began producing goods such as wallets, shoes,
watches, travel bags, eyewear and many more accessories, all of
which were eagerly recieved by the ardent followers of
Crocodile.
Elated by his success and the
growing popularity of Crocodile, Tan decided it was time to also
look at ladies' wear. In a relatively short span Crocodile
established itself as a brand to be reckoned with. It was one of
the first Asian brands to break the monopoly of western brands
and give the international competition a run for their money.
